Remote Together?

These three projects were done as entries for the Intertwined exhibition at Rutgers Newark. The design brief for the exhibition was to  select a public system that we wanted to bring attention to and create a multi-media group of works showcasing it. To that end my projects center on the struggles involved in the process of remote learning at the onset of the Covid-19 stay home order.

Blank Screens is an editorial production that serves to bring attention to the struggles that many instructors faced during the education oriented response to the Covid-19 pandemic as well as similar events that took place previously. Created using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Remote What? The second media I covered for Intertwined was an interactive piece focused on some of the struggles that students faced in remote learning.

The experience puts you into a scenario where you are tasked with paying attention to a class but things just keep getting in the way. From parents and pets to tech issues the experience constantly has you navigating from issue to issue to show you just how difficult remote learning can be for those that were unprepared.

The motion piece that was included in my Intertwined entries was focused on the hardships that families faced during the stay at home era of the pandemic.

Issues spurred by financial, spacial, and emotional all took a toll on families that were unprepared. Students and parents needed to share space for work and school combined and many didn’t have the tools necessary to facilitate a learning environment.
